I flew my stunt kite today! I bought it last week at a local kite shop in Kitty Hawk (unsurprisingly, wind-based flight is pretty big here). I've never flown a two string kite before, but I'm hooked. I only wrecked it three times 🤣.
Looking at my personal "On this day" photos, and it became apparent that on this day 2 years ago I was in Coarsegold, California, where I had got myself in a hell of a pickle, and was helped by one of the most generous people I've ever met.
Devin discovered "the mouse" today. Apparently Bennett has been showing him how to use it while playing his games on his laptop. Came out of the shower to find Devin clicking around my PC, so I redirected that curiosity into something that won't inadvertently wipe my hard drive 🙃 in the process.
OBX is a serious contender for my favorite place out east. There's a lot to love about North Carolina. Really feeling the vibe of this area.
Welp, our land offer was not good enough, apparently. we lost on terms (again). I hate this feeling so much, and it keeps happening. You spend so much time and energy just...choosing the place, only to have it ripped away by a cash buyer. I hate purchasing real-estate so, so much.
At least we're starting to see new options crop up. Maybe we'll have more luck in the future.
My wife spent like 3 hours on the beach with Bennett today, looking for seashells. As I approached her, she came running up to me looking like what you see in the photo 😂. She was so dang excited to find a fully intact conch shell in the water, and got soaked going in after it.
A local ice cream shop in Roanoke sold me an ice cream cone with Cheez Its sprinkled on-top. It was too weird to not try. Salty + sweet almost always works, and this is no exception.

Woke up this morning to a lot of wind outside. Turns out, a tiny sand bar off the coast of North Carolina is quite windy this time of year. Yet another moment where this area reminds me of our visit to Elephant Butte, New Mexico, even though it is way on the other end of the country.
